Plan of Study
Currently I’m in an accelerated pathway program in Applied Information Technology (AIT). In order to become a formal master student, what I need to do is to get all B or above in every course that I’m currently engaged. However, I still have some problems about what should I do about my major, since my first job is a website engineer, all of my skills are related to programming, which is not an aspect that AIT concern very much. Compare to Computer Science or Software Development, AIT is a broader field and less specific.
For students in AIT, we are able to become high-potential leaders, leading multidisciplinary teams in the design, justification, development and management. The problem is that I’m not sure if I have the ability to program, is staying in AIT a right chose?
For the opportunities for AIT students, it depends on the concentration. There are many concentrations in AIT, including Cyber Security, Emerging Technologies, Entrepreneurial, Intelligence Technologies and Information Sciences and Technology. Of all these courses, I prefer Information Sciences and Technology the most.
Here are courses that I need to take:
AIT 510 – Learning Technology: Theory, Application and Design 3 Spring 2015
AIT 524 – Database Management Essentials 3 Spring 2015
AIT 624 – Semantic Web Tools for Multimedia Applications 3 Spring, Fall 2015
AIT 702 – Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking 3 Spring 2015
AIT 602 – Introduction to Research in Applied Information Technology 3 Spring 2015
AIT 603 – Research Practice 3 Spring, Fall 2015
AIT 699 – Research Capstone 3 Fall, Summer, Spring 2015
AIT 685 – Capstone Seminar 3 Fall, Summer, Spring 2015
AIT 622 – Determining Needs for Complex Big Data Systems 3 Current taking
GBUS 540 – Analysis of Financial Decisions 3 Current taking
To graduate, I need to get at least 30 credits, which means I need to pick up a concentration and finish 6 credit from core courses. In the final semester, I need to choose to select on a research or working on a thesis. Since I’m not a good writer, I think working on a research is better for me.
For the professor, currently Professor Howard is the only professor I know. I will ask him for more advice for the future courses. I will focus asking question about which aspect the concentration is focusing.
