Statement of Purpose
I graduated from the Department of Information Management at Shih Hsin University, majoring in Network Technology. I took courses in Programming Design, Database Systems, and Data Structure. After fulfilling the mandatory military service duty, I attended the training program for mobile application development engineers offered by the Institute for Information Industry. The program offered comprehensive training of a total of 645 hours. In this program, I learned programming languages at advanced levels, including C# (Windows Form Application), Java (Android Application), JavaScript (with jQuery and angularjs), ASP.NET (Web Form) and XML (including html and Bootstrap) which boosted up my programming competence.
I have taken to Windows Form Application, and have achieved success in this area. In light of my superior performance, the director of Institute for Information Industry assigned me to be the chief of a project developing a business expansion systems application, in collaboration with businesses, for mobile devices. In this project, I was responsible for tracking information, writing the Android core program, Web Service, and guiding the team to write ASP.NET, present Bootstrap front-end, and integrate Google Application Programming Interface. In completing this program, I gained all the skills that I should have during university and employed them fluently. Thanks to these outstanding achievements, I had a successful job search tour: the all five companies that examined my project in job interview offered me a position.
With GeoIntelligence Systems, Inc., I took charge of the web programming of a development and maintenance project for the road-digging system in the city of Pingtung. Later, I was promoted to take charge of the cross-system integration project. In this capacity, I had to coordinate with government and construction units from all over the nation and expand the system according to their need. In dealing with complicated problems that arose, I enhanced my understanding of .NET and became more proficient at using Ajax and JavaScript. However, as I learned more in programming, I also discovered how much I had yet to learn. At that time, having taken the TOEFL and GRE, and I thought it a good time for me to study abroad.
Now in George Mason University Pathway Program, I try to promote my English ability and am continuing to learn new skills from my major courses. In addition, I keep expanding my social network, while trying to develop non-profit projects to improve my management and planning skills on information systems. Upon accomplishing my Master’s degree, I will pursue a career in the information industry, challenging different this field with the diverse skills and experience that I possess. I look forward to taking on challenges and making major breakthrough in this profession. I sincerely hope to get admitted to the Master of Applied Information Technology program at your university. With my determination and enthusiasm, I am sure that I will be an outstanding graduate student and will be able to fulfill my dream by using what I have learned.
